Beginning in January 2015, Alden Young will be an assistant professor of African History at Drexel University, and the Director of Drexel’s Africana Studies Program. He is currently a Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow affiliated with the Penn Humanities Forum and the Department of Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his PhD in 2013 in History at Princeton University. His dissertation is entitled, « Accounting for Decolonization : The Origins of the Sudanese Economy, 1946 until 1964. » He is now working on a project tentatively titled, Elite Retreat : Sudanese Bureaucrats, Intellectuals, Traders and the Search for an Alternative to the State.
