Bob Hancké analyses the profound, structural causes of Europe’s monetary crisis while Shahin Vallee shows how fiscal federalism is the only possible solution to reach monetary stability. Going back to Europe’s origins and process of construction from the 1950s to the present day, Luuk van Middelaar and Jean –Claude Barbier both analyse Europe as a political entity, whose specificities need to be known and acknowledged.
