Andy Cabot is a Phd. candidate at Paris Diderot University. His dissertation project, “Slavery, Empires and Diplomacy : France, England and the United States in the Atlantic world, 1795-1825”, aims at demonstrating how American slavery was able to survive the political tide of revolutionary politics and abolitionism in the late eighteenth century only to find new life in the early nineteenth century.

Thanks to this research, he has developed an academic interest in the history of slavery during the Age of Revolutions. Of particular interest to him is the history of networks of all sorts (personal, political, intellectual, business-related, etc.) tied to the institution of slavery during this crucial period and how their political influence shaped the complex history of slavery and abolition around the Atlantic during this era.
